We cannot advance adaptably with effectiveness and stakeholder support using the language and words we have always been using, many of which were adopted from the successful structuring of the military. 

Old world barrier words to becoming adaptable: Hierarchy, Recruits/Recruitment, Talent Acquisition, Regulation, Structure, Compliance, Competency, 

Better, but still not great: De-centralization, Systems Thinking, Manager. 

When I think of a "hack" I think of breaking something for the sake of improvement. We have to break our own language and really consider what we mean. Our next generation does not connect with many of the terms used today. Once you begin considering the implications of a word, you begin to catch yourself considering what you really mean with a new lens and new word to support it!
