Drive performance through a shared sense of purpose and community

As an emotional catalyst, shareholder wealth maximization lacks the power to fully mobilize human energies. Individuals are hungry for a compelling answer to the question, “What’s worth my life?” A compelling sense of purpose—a set of distinctive and deeply-felt values—moves, motivates, and aligns people more powerfully than the most tightly-designed controls.

Organizations must make (and continue to make) a strong case for:

  • why what they do matters
  • why people should band together as a community to support them
