Reframe every management discipline under heaven using nature’s “Energy-Time-Space” management principles to glean newer insights!

I guess this is a billion dollar wildcard question by its own merit. In a way the idea I am going to propose under this wildcard category is the culmination or synthesis of the concepts, I had shared in the previous categories. The wildcard to move MIX to next level is using a hypothesis driven assertion –“Frame every management discipline under heaven using nature’s “Energy-Time-Space” dimensions”. As a matter of fact, I am working on an article expounding this hypothesis, by looking at the universe with the following 5 lenses/themes/myths and I will keep you posted. • Spiritual • Ecological • Political • Economical • Scientific Once we reframe every management discipline under these five myths with this energy flow (or insight flow) framing, we will be able to glean some interesting insights. For example, I will even go to the extent of hypothesizing that discovering one’s purpose (personal or business) within this universe is all about, just locating their Time & Space coordinates, within Universe’s map, when we subject it under Energy-TIME-SPACE framing. When everyone or business finds their perfect Time & Space coordinates within the universe, then universe will be functioning perfectly. Until then, universe will be still imbalanced with chaos, because, we all haven’t found our perfect #purpose spots within the space & time coordinates of universe yet. So, in a way we have an ulterior motive to, not only find our purpose, but also inspire others to find theirs as well, as we all want to live in a balanced, peaceful universe! In a way our VOS framework (http://www.managementexchange.com/hack/innovating-innovation-triune-insu...) is based on this hypothesis based assertion only. We had looked at the top 3 disciplines of 21st century i.e. strategy, innovation & leadership, holistically, from an universal/scientific lens standpoint (i.e. one myth of my assertion), using nature’s top 3 principles, • As a first step, the purpose seed (Vision, Mission, BHAG, Values and Codes) gets manifested as three top management disciplines of 21st century i.e. Leadership, strategy and innovation, using nature’s energy management principle. • Then these three transformed disciplines, go through a 3S (seed-season-sequel) journey, before resulting in as a Triune Shared Value (shareholder + societal + motivational) using nature’s seedal chain principle. • Last, but not the least, this 3S journey, ends up creating 18 macro dilemmas(6 for leadership, 6 for strategy and 6 for Innovation) and many more micro dilemmas(depending upon problem/industry domain), and gets resolved, by nature’s principle of balancing opposites. This is where; I suggest that we subject every management discipline to be analyzed with this ENERGY-SPACE-TIME mindset, as part of moving MIX onto the next level of impact i.e. To 10x the members and the content, and let that be my last word!

Way to go.This is ambitious and bold.
Do not fear because some pieces could not fit perfect.
At least this is a refreshing look and others can help to adjust.

I am glad you said it that way Frederic. In a way, I had the same type of inhibitions, when I wanted to propose this wildcard idea, as some of the pieces may not fit well, as it is just a hypothesis type assertion, at this point in the game.

However, as you have alluded, I still believe that there is value in experimenting, testing and impoverishing these hypothesizes, with newer insights, and my hope is that more experts will weigh in, and guide us in the process as well.At a minimum, it will help us at to borrow some ideas/principles, from one myth to another as well.

That being said, let me also share some of my thinking on this topic –

For example, if we assume that universe as a hierarchical network choice or issue tree (if I may use strategy parley), in space and time dimensions,

Under spiritual myth/lens, here is how it pans out -

• Energy/Glory maps to spirit/heart
• Subjecting Energy/Glory under Time maps to soul/mind
• Subjecting Energy/Glory under Space maps to body

Under scientific myth/lens

• Energy/Glory maps to Energy
• Subjecting Energy under Time converts Energy into Power
• Subjecting Energy under Space converts Energy to Force

Under economical myth/lens

• Energy maps to Corporation/firms/businesses
• Subjecting corporation under time, converts them into industries/markets
• Subjecting corporation/industries under space, converts them into economies

With the above mapping, we perhaps can propose the following “causal statements “as a hypothesis, using the larger “Space-Energy-Time” construct?

• Emotional/Motivational energy that is birthed in “Heart /Spirit” dimension, by nature’s energy management principle, in Micro Energy dimension is the root event.
• Which then causes beliefs or choices to get propelled in “Mind /Soul” dimension that starts the nature’s seedal chain principle, to run its course in Micro Force dimension?
• Which then causes actions to be landed in “Bodies” dimension by nature’s balancing opposite’s principle, in Micro Power dimension.

Similarly,

• The above spiritual/purpose motivations/beliefs/actions, then causes corporations to get birthed in “Resource/Energy” dimension with a “maximizing resource allocation motivation”, by nature’s energy management principle in Macro Energy dimension.
• Which then causes corporations to be propelled/predicted in “TIME” dimension with a “Strategic foresights” using nature’s seedal chain principle in motion in Macro Force dimension?
• Which then causes corporations to be landed in “SPACE” dimension, as “decisive choices” by balancing using nature’s balancing opposite’s principle in Macro Power dimension?
• Which then culminates as “Macro/Micro Economy” as explained in our Capitalism Plus framework, with a Triune Shared Value (TSV) mindset.

As a next step, we might have some interesting permutations and combinations of navigational paths evolving, when we “PREDICT” and “SHIFT” each of the nodes, within this nested tree, by keeping the larger causal mechanism boundary same, very similar to how our firm’s VOS predicts insights (which is another form of energy) into foresights and then into choices

For example,

• When we predict and shift economies under “TIME and SPACE” dimension and redraw the traditional economic structure boundaries, we will get an “traditional capitalism structures are irrelevant” mindset, and arrive at an interesting hybrid/convergence/value continuum based capitalism constructs as outlined the earlier Capitalism challenge(VOS & Capitalism Plus and VizPlanet), frameworks.
• When we predict and shift industries in “TIME and SPACE” dimension and redraw the traditional industry boundaries, we will get a “traditional industry structure is irrelevant” mindset, and result in our firm’s purpose innovation bundles and platforms using collaborative “JVs” and strategic partnership models, as outlined in our (VOS & Capitalism Plus and VizPlanet), frameworks.
• When we predict and shift the corporations in “TIME and SPACE” dimensions and redraw the traditional BU boundaries, we will get a “traditional resource structure constraints is irrelevant” mindset, look for ways to creatively combine Physical and virtual resources using our VRE portfolio framework.

Similarly

• When we apply the same logic to the micro power dimension, and shift body dimension to redraw the traditional talent structure boundaries, we will get a “traditional talent structure is irrelevant” mindset, as outlined in our VizPity frameworks.
• When we apply the same logic to the micro force dimension and shift mind dimension and redraw the traditional thinking structure boundaries, we will get a “traditional belief structure is irrelevant” mindset, as outlined in our Capitalism Plus frameworks.
• When we apply the same logic to the micro force dimension and shift mind dimension and redraw the traditional motivation structure boundaries, we will get a “traditional motivation structure is irrelevant” mindset, as outlined in our VizPity frameworks.

By now, I hope, you all get the flow - and where I am going with this thinking - and so, before I go too far, I’d be humbled and honored to hear thoughts from fellow MIX’ers and other experts as well.

On a related note, this type of reframing also open new doors for us to develop alternate ways of valuing the firms (and the larger capital markets) and some of the options, we have in mind include, but not limited to are –

1) Weighting System Approach with 5 or 10 or 15 possible value station on top of BSC perspectives
2) Represent the value trajectory with a log-log equation?
3) Progressive ratio approach (between expected and realized values).
4) Energy Management Approach (by equating value to energy one can borrow scientific principles and apply them to business valuation? Perhaps start the valuation from risks?)
5) Hybrid Approach (Some combination of previous approaches i.e. pick and choose the combination of above approaches, and then apply them as per the context).
