Bureaucracy pervades all areas of operations in my organization. This is due to compliance mandated by the state and other external entities, limited resources that everyone competes for, productivity and quality expectations that are set by the top management, as well as the need to avoid any legal challenges in the courtroom.
Bureaucracy beyond a point is counterproductive as the cost due to bureaucracy outweighs the benefits.
Bureaucracy can make my job both difficult and easy. Difficult in the sense that it can hold me from being agile or in some cases prevent me, from pursuing opportunities that may be unfolding. It can make my job easy in the sense that bureaucracy can provide some structure to operate under.
